Kartik Aaryan said that he was offered supporting roles even after the success of Pyaar Ka Punchnama.
Kartik Aaryan, who will next be seen in Kabir Khan’s Chandu Champion, recently recalled the time when even after the success of Pyaar Ka Punchnama, he was getting offers for supporting roles in films. Kartik shared that he was going through a financial crunch at the time but still chose to follow his instinct in selecting his films.
In a chat with Ranveer Allahbadia, Kartik was shown a photo from the music launch of Pyaar Ka Punchnama and the actor shared his memories from that phase of his life. “I was in a very scary situation in my life around that time. I was an actor and I had a movie releasing but I had no other films. Even after the film was a hit, I had no other film offers, and I had no money,” he shared. Kartik said that he was around 22-23 years old at the time and was “was very worried about money.”

Kartik said that despite the success of Pyaar Ka Punchnama, he wasn’t getting many offers and the ones that he was getting weren’t the right fit for him. “I got the movies I wanted after I said no to many things. I said no to so many films during my bad phase. Even when I had no film, I would still trust my gut feeling. Not that I had a lot of options anyway. Like one or two offers maybe, but I could have earned money through that. But I did not take those offers. I was still getting those ‘hero’s friend’ or ‘hero’s brother’ roles, even after Punchnama, and they would pay good money, but I didn’t do that either,” he said. Kartik said that he continued to believe in himself and “it paid off when Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety released.”
In an earlier conversation, Kartik had shared that he only made Rs 70,000 for his first film and had to pay Rs 7,000 in taxes for that remuneration. “Those days, I used to worry a lot about TDS. The tax would already be deducted from my paychecks. I made Rs 63,000 for Pyaar Ka Punchnama after taxes. TDS used to really worry me. I remember making Rs 1,500 for my first ad, and Rs 70,000 for the first film,” he shared with Raj Shamani.
